Solan is the largest Municipal Council of Himachal Pradesh,In Himachal Tourism,
it is located south of the state capital, Shimla. At an average elevation of 1,600 
meters.It is the district headquarters of Solan district and created on 1 September
 1972 ,in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Solan was the capital of the
erstwhile princely state, Bhagat.The place is named after the Hindu goddess 
Shoolini Mata.A  fair  is celebrating  every year in the month of June. The goddess 
is held, featuring a 3-day mela at the central Thodo grounds.
The town is situated between Chandigarh and Shimla, on the Kalka-Shimla 
National Highway-22.It is known as the "Mushroom city of India" also ,because 
of its best mushroom farming in the area as well as the Directorate of Mushroom 
Research situated at Chambaghat.Solan is crowned as the "City of Red Gold", 
in reference to the bulk production of tomatoes in the area. The Kalka-Shimla 
narrow gauge heritage railway line  was built in 1898, to connect Shimla, the 
summer capital of India during the British Raj, by the British passes through 
Solan and is a recognised World Heritage site.

Shoolini Mata Temple

Solan district is also known as mashroom city of Himachal tourism in India .
Solan got its name from the Shoolini Mata, a regional deity. Hence the temple 
of Shoolini Maa is a prominent tourist place in Solan.The Shoolini temple is
dedicated to Goddess Shoolini Mata who is the Kuldevi of people of Solan. 
 Solan is known for a very famous fair which is celebrated in last week of june
every year.Shoolini fair is also famous for dancing, singing and wrestling.The
festival and fair which lasts for 3 days attracts thousands of tourists and 
devotees from the state.She  is one of the prime attractions of Solan.The town
of Solan was named after maa Shoolini. The idol of the Goddess is carried in 
a Palki and a huge procession is carried out around the town. Maa Shoolini is 
the Mahashakti,and known for providing knowledge, wisdom, creation,
preservation and annihilation to her visitors. Maa Shoolini is also popularly 
known as Shoolini Durga, Shivrani, Shoolini Devi, you can call her with any 
name.The temple looks beautiful in the night when it is completely illuminated 
and is crowded on holidays and festivals. The shrine is surrounded by wide
views of beautiful landscapes thus creating a magical environment for devotees.

Kasauli

Kasauli is a cantonment and town, located in Solan district in Himachal tourism.
The cantonment was established by the British Raj in 1842 as a emigrant hill 
station.Kasauli has a gentle climate. In Winter Kasauli’s temperature is 
approximately 2 degrees Celsius, and Summer temperatures rarely exceeding 
32 degrees Celsius or more.The town is a healthy resort, having an elevation of 
1,900 metres above sea level.

Kasauli is very famous hill station of Himachal Pradesh for shooting.Many films are 
shoot in this hill station.Koi Mil Gaya is very famous and Hit film of bollywood was 
shoot in Kasauli.The Kasauli Club was established by civilians and service 
personnel in 1880, as the Kasauli Reading and Assembly Rooms. It gained its 
present name in 1898 when a limited liability company and constitution were 
established and CRI (Central Research Institute ) ,was established at Kasauli in 
1904 .The Kasauli Club and The CRI’s  first director was Sir David Semple. CRI 
as an institute working in the fields of immunology and virological research,it is 
originally the Pasteur Institute of India.The CRI works as a World Health 
Organization ‘Collaborating Centre.
Bon Monastery

Bon Monastery, also called Yung Drung Ling, is situated at Solan  district in  
Himachal Tourism. It is considered the second oldest monastery in the world, 
only after the one present in Tibet. Bon monastery houses a massive statue of 
Lord Shenrab Mibo.
Although they track their origins to olden days, Bonpo implement a living set of 
guidelines devoted to perpetuating the lessons of their creator Tonpa Shenrab, 
who consumes a prominent place in Bon lifestyle just like that of Sakyamuni in 
 Buddhism. Tonpa Shenrab's lessons are jointly known as Yung Drung Bon or
 the "tradition of Everlasting Wisdom" and consist of the Nine Methods of Bon 
that summarize the rules of cause and impact on the direction to religious freedom.
The monastery of Himachal Tourism, which is older than the Buddhist religion, is
 belongs to the Bon religion, and their principles are the same as Buddhist religion.
Bon originated in the land of Olmo Lungring, located in Tazig. 'Ol' means the unborn,
'Mo' means indestructible and 'Lung' is the divinatory words of Tonpa Shenrab, the
founder of Bon religion.

The Dagshai Jail Museum

In Himachal Tourism Dagshai is a former British prison before independence,
but now it  is now a jail museum frequented by tourists. Dagshai is one of the 
oldest cantonment towns in the Solan district of Himachal. Earlier the place was
used as a storage yard. After it was cleaned up with the help of the army, now it 
is a well designed structure emerged. Later, this place was converted into a 
museum today. It is the only museum in India which is the only jail museum in 
India apart from the Cellular Jail in the Andamans.

Jatoli Shiv Temple

Jatoli Shiv temple is the place which is In Himachal Tourism, and if a tourist 
wants to see a grand and spectacular temple, perched on a hilltop, then Jatoli 
Shiv temple is the place to be.Lord Shiva has long hair called Jata, Jatoli gets
 its name from that. jatoli is considered as Asia's highest Mahadev temple.It 
absolutely an architectural marvel in this shrine.Jatoli Temple is one of the 
famous holy destinations and it is only 6 Kms far from the Solan.It attracts a 
large number of pilgrims.
Multiple fables and stories are associated with the history of Jatoli Shiv 
Temple. It is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva where an ancient linga 
is the also placed since a long time.
